It is one of the biggest Sitka Spruce trees in Scotland; Forestry operations are on the go in the woodland so heed the signs where not to enter.

Drumtochty Forest and its adjoining neighbour, Fetteresso are the biggest forests in the area between Stonehaven and Banchory. Make sure you have the usual provisions water snacks map gps etc. With the area being quite dense at times signal can be quite jumpy or in my experience the phone has no signal at all.Tree diseases and pests are posing an increasing threat to our forests and can be spread very quickly from forest to forest on muddy tyres, boots or paws.
