It's All Your Fault Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Ninja Reviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

This geocache is located near a fault. Faults are fractures in the ground along which movement has taken place. In other words, faults form when the stress on a rock is great enough to cause a fracture. The displacement can be as small as several centimeters or as large has hundreds of kilometers.

There are several different types of faults. Some faults cause each side of the fault to move either closer together or further apart. These are called dip-slip faults, as the movement occurs along the dip of the fault. Dip-slip faults result in vertical displacement, and include both normal and reverse faults. A normal fault is an extensional fault, meaning the two blocks move away from each other and extend the crust around the fault. A reverse fault is a compressional fault which causes the two blocks to move closer to each other and compress the crust near the fault. Strike-slip faults occur when the slip occurs horizontally, along the strike of the fault, and the movement is parallel to the strike. Oblique-slip faults occur when there is a combination of both dip-slip faults and strike-slip faults have occurred (both horizontal and vertical movement).

Park facing the woods and look for a gate to walk through. Walk down the steps and down the path to your right. Be careful—this path may be slippery if it has rained recently. Walk down to the creek and cross it using the rocks. Turn left, and walk upstream to find the geocache.

Make sure to bring your own pen! Wear shoes that can be taken off or can get wet- you will have to walk through several inches of water.
