An easy "park and grab" (well it's 160 metres from the car so maybe a "park, amble and grab")
Nemo's turtles were off to the East Australian Current, and ours could be too. Five species of marine turtles are found in New Zealand waters. They don't nest on our beaches, but are seen around our islands as far south as Fiordland. Turtles around New Zealand include: - The leatherback turtle - which can reach 900 kg in weight and over 2 m! - The loggerhead turtle - which only surface once every 10 hours to breathe, when they're hibernating on the sea floor in cold waters - The green turtle - named because its meat and body tissues are green when cooked - The olive ridley turtle - so-called because while it is green, it was often confused with other turtles....a riddle has become ridley over time. - The hawksbill turtle - a relatively rare visitor which tends to stay north of Cook Strait. All sea turtles are protected in New Zealand waters. They are another good reason to pick up rubbish on the beach. Many turtles die from eating plastic bags, which look a lot like jellyfish in the water. BYO pen and log extraction device as while the cache is small the log is tiny.
