COLOSSEUM mozi (Arany János utca-Eötvös utca sarok). 1910-ben, más forrás szerint 1911-ben nyílt, az 1921-es mozirevízió idején 750 fős moziként említik. 1942-ben nevet váltott, BOTOND MOZI néven működött 1944-es bezárásáig. 1945-ben a Nemzeti Parasztpárt mozijaként már JÓZSEF ATTILA MOZI néven folytatta. 1949-1950-ből egyetlen adatot sem lehet találni róla, aminek két oka lehet: vagy átmenetileg zárva volt az államosítást követően, vagy az akkori idők végtelenül hiányos, alig-alig használható moziműsoraiban egyszerűen nem szerepelt. Legközelebbi előfordulása egy 1951 márciusi műsorban található. Ugyancsak nem szerepel műsorújságokban 1954 második felétől kezdve, legközelebb csak 1955 novemberében. Mivel akkortól meg a Tavasz mozi tűnt el a műsorból, kikövetkeztethető, hogy az egyik mozi felújítása után a másik is bezárt felújításra. 1959 március 15-én sok mozi nevet változtatott, többek közt ez is: akkor lett József Attilából PALOTA MOZI. ( az eredetileg Palota néven működő régi, Arany János utca 94 alatti mozi akkor már egy évtizede zárva volt, tehát nem volt egyidejűleg két egyforma név a kerületben). Tatarozás miatt 1967 december 7-én egy évre bezárt, teljesen felújítva 1968 december 30-án nyílt meg, a Tiltott határátlépés című francia filmmel.
Innen kezdve érdemleges feljegyeznivaló nem volt a mozival kapcsolatban, 1989-ig működött, majd az akkoriban nem ritka mozibezárások ezt is elérték. Utoljára a Rendőrakadémia II. rész című filmmel szerepelt a műsorban, utolsó nap 1989 augusztus 29 volt.
Colosseum movie theater is at the corner of Arany János and Eötvös street. It first opened its doors in 1910, or according to some sources in 1911. It was mentioned as a 750 seat theater in a review in 1921. Its name was changed to Botond movie theater in 1942 and that's how it was known until it shut its doors in 1944. It re-opened in 1945 as the National Peasant party's theater under the name József Attila movie theater. There's no mention of it in 1949-1950, which could be because it might have been closed temporarily following nationalization, or it simply wasn't mentioned in the poorly put together movie theater guides of that era. It is next mentioned in the March, 1951 edition of said guide. It disappears from the guides again from the second half of 1954 until November, 1955. Since at that time the Tavasz movie theater disappears from the guides, one can guess that after one movie theater is renovated, the other is remodeled next. Several movie theaters got their names changed on March 15, 1959. József Attila became Palota movie theater. The original, old Palota movie theater at Arany János street 94 had been closed for a decade by that time, so there weren't 2 theaters with the same name in the district during the same time. It was closed for renovations for a year starting December 7, 1968. It re-opened with the French movie, Voyage of Silence on Dec. 30, 1968. Not much else happened that's noteworthy, the theater was shuttered in 1989, which wasn't rare in those days. The last movie they showed was Police Academy 2 with the last show time on Aug. 29, 1989.
