HISTORY: Scotch Settlement was established around 1833 and included parts of Macomb County and was centered around the United Presbyterian Church, that was located next to the cemetery, which was sold and moved away around 1943. It's obvious from the name that most of the settlers were of Scottish relation. There was a school here, post office, general store and a blacksmith, along with a railroad stop called Hopkins Road, which it's believed Scotch Settlement Road is the old Hopkins Road. As the village of Almont grew, Scotch Settlement, like many small hamlets, faded into history. The one room school was here prior to 1863 and today is a residence.
