Union Pacific Depot Norfolk Junction
The Omaha, Niobrara, and Black Hills branch of the Union Pacific opened the Norfolk depot in 1880. The railroad was the most important factor in the settlement of Nebraska in the mid to late 1800's. There was another depot located on 7th Street between Madison and Phillip Avenues. This depot belonged to the Chicago and North Western Railroad.
The posted coordinates will bring you to a pole at the former site of the Depot. There is no need to go near the railroad tracks. On this pole, there are five black numbers on yellow tags running vertically. From the top, treat these numbers as ABCDE. Solve below to find the final location of this cache.

2016 marks the 150th Anniversary of Norfolk's founding. The celebration continues though the end of the year! 16 geocaches have been placed at historic locations around Norfolk. You are invited to "Uncover Norfolk's Past . . . One Cache At A Time". Each cache contains a punch specific to that location (DO NOT REMOVE PUNCH FROM CACHE). Sign the cache log and then use the punch to mark your game card for that location. Game cards are available at the Norfolk Visitor's Bureau (609 W Norfolk Ave) and at the Dover office (1000 W Norfolk Ave). When you have completed the trail and filled your card, you can turn it in for a commemorative Norfolk 150 Geocoin (while supplies last)!
If you complete the trail and turn in your game card prior to September 23rd, 2016, you will also be entered into a drawing for a brand new 50" flatscreen TV to be given away at Norfolk's Oktoberfest celebration on September 24th!! You need not be present to win the TV and no purchase is necessary. The Norfolk 150 Trail will be open through DECEMBER 31st, 2016!
