Our take on a fishing tournament consists of the following:
Every participant will be required to enter the tournament at the registration table at HQ. Registration closes at 10:00AM. As each participant signs up, they will be handed a set of coordinates which pinpoint the locations of prime fishing holes. The fishing spots (caches) will all be located within walking distance of HQ where registration and the weigh in will be located. One temporary, unlisted, geocache will be found at each location. Each cache will contain several envelopes, inside of which will be your fish. The fish will have their weight clearly marked on them. Participants will take only one envelope from each cache. These envelopes must remain UNOPENED and must be sealed when brought back to the registration table in order to be "weighed." Any opened envelopes will be disqualified. The volunteers working the weigh in will open your envelopes and "weigh" your fish. Your biggest five fish will count toward your total.
The angler with the highest five-fish total weight will be named the Champion and awarded the grand prize.
A "big bass" prize will also be awarded to the angler with the largest single fish.
Everyone who'd like to enter the fishing tournament is welcome to enter. Each member of a geocaching team can enter on their own. Children of all ages are also encouraged to catch their own fish.
Please remember that it's August in Texas. Bring plenty of water and stay safe. If you don't want to participate in the tournament, please feel free to bring a chair, hang out and spectate the weigh in.
