Geocache Description:

A&A came to Marmora in 1973, making it their home, work and playground.

This series of geocaches was created by A&A's geocaching kids, in honour of their 45th wedding anniversary, and to celebrate all of the amazing ways that A&A contributed to Marmora. This was a great town to grow up in, and we are forever grateful for all they did!

Step into the shoes of one of South Hastings’ miners during the height of the mining industry by exploring the very places where they worked, lived and thrived. As you wander through the region’s mines and spectacular views on this self-guided tour (get a brochure at the town's Info Centre, or follow the signs from this geoache), you’ll be able to imagine a life built on hard work, the excitement of a gold rush, and even what it was like to unwind at the end of a long day.

Together, the region's three mining sites (Richardson Gold Mine, Marmoraton Mine and Deloro Mine) are referred to as the “Miner’s Loop” driving tour, and was the brainchild of A&A. The name harkens back to a time when weary miners would travel from town to town for a Friday night drink (or four) and to catch up on all the latest gossip from the neighbouring camps.

We felt that for this cache, it was smart to "plug the hole" -- you'll understand once you find it. Please be sure to leave it this way. If you didn't find it this way, please plug it with a stick or bark.
