After four fun years I've decided it's time for me to archive my Dowagiac River Kayak Caches and open the stretches up for someone else to hide some caches. But I also want to make sure we leave the river in a nicer state than when I first put these hides there. So I figured what better way to host my first CITO event?
Saturday, August 27, 8:30 a.m.-Noon
The posted coords are a staging area where we'll meet & I'll distribute some trash bags before we head to the river to start work at N 42° 04.649 W 085° 59.659
We'll paddle both stretches of river and remove whatever trash and old cache containers we can find. Note, the timeline above is just a rough guess of how long the first stretch (From GC3H8EY to GC3V7DB will take.) This will likely be an all-day affair as it takes a while to paddle both stretches of river! You don't have to tag along for the whole thing, but it will be very much appreciated if you do. The other stretch of river we'll be cleaning starts at GC3H8EY and end at GC3GR6G.
Staging of vehicles we'll figure out depending on how many people show up. Both stretches are usually relatively clean, but I want to leave the river better than when we first paddled it. We likely won't be able to get some of the larger pieces of trash. (The trampoline in the northern stretch!) But we'll get what we can.
