Geocache Description:

The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) has created this geocache in recognition of our centennial milestone on Oct. 16, 2016!

While searching for this geocache, we hope you’ll take time to check out our beautiful campus. Here are a few spots we recommend:

Heritage Hall, the red brick and sandstone building overlooking Calgary’s downtown core, opened in 1922. It was the first building erected when SAIT (formally known as the Provincial Institute of Technology, or PITA) moved to its present day campus. In 2001, Heritage Hall was revitalized, along with the addition of the Stan Grad Centre, which is connected to its northern side. Can you spot the gargoyles and dragons on Heritage Hall?

The John Ware building, named after the famous African-American cowboy, was built in 1958 and is home to students in our culinary and hospitality programs. Also look for Jackson’s Garden —the food grown there is used in dishes created by our student chefs! Raspberry bushes have been planted on the outside of the garden for the public to enjoy as they pass by during the summer months.

Don’t miss the modern Aldred Centre, Johnson-Cobbe Energy Centre and Cenovus Energy Centre. Completed in 2012, these buildings make up our state-of-the-art Trades and Technology Complex.

Finally, take some time to enjoy the view of downtown Calgary from the Cohos Commons field and parking garage.

Check the waypoints for paid parking locations or come by Calgary Transit. Security is aware of the geocache, so not to worry when accessing the container.

The lock's combination is set to the year SAIT was founded. Once you enter the combination, push up on the lock to release it. When closing, hold it close and change the numbers for it to lock again.
