Geocache Description:

Pamatakmens baznīcas celtnei ielikts 1937.gada septembrī. 1939.gadā tika pabeigti celtnes ārējie darbi. Pēckara periodā celtne gāja bojā, 60 gados tika nojaukts kupols. Baznīca savu īpašumu atguva 1992.gadā, restaurācija sākās 1998.gadā, pēc gada tika atjaunots kupols ar oriģinālo saglabāto pirmskara baznīcas krustu, un no šī gada ir atjaunota arī draudzes darbība

Livanu Orthodox Church was built in 1937 by Vladimir Shervinskiy. Church is built like old Churches in Pskov or Great Novgorod-beautiful white stone building with campanile. The church was functioning during WWII, in 1960s it was rebuild and used like warehouse and living house. In 1993, after several years of suits, was decided to reconstruct the Church. After 14 years of reconstruction works on September 8, 2007 the Church was blessed and opened to public.
