The cache is hidden close by a local hostelry and the village hall, in the heart of the village of Saxilby. Formerly known as the Railway Hotel, the pub opened soon after the railway came to the village in 1849. It was renamed in 1895 as the village became popular with fishermen from the Yorkshire coalfields. Saxilby is on the Northern Rail services from Lincoln to Sheffield and Adwick, and the E Midland Rail service from Lincoln to Doncaster. The Saxilby Village Hall building was originally the United Methodist Free Church which opened on 18th May 1881, replacing a previous chapel on this site. Later known as the Central Chapel, it closed on 11th January 1937 following an application by the Parish Council to purchase the building for use as a village hall. In 1974, an extension to the village hall was built at a cost of £35,000 *Congratulations to TeamGud - FTF*
