Deepdale is a little visited valley heading up to Fairfield and St Sunday Crag from the village of Patterdale. It is also one of the best routes up to the Helvellyn range, via Grisedale Tarn, over Deepdale Hause, an imposing col at the head of the valley. Parking is available at Bridgend, in a layby by the telephone box.
The cache is placed at a particularly imposing viewpoint, where ahead lie the massive cliffs of Greenhow End, and the north face of Fairfield, and looking back down the valley you see the peaks of Angletarn Pikes. It is named after a Swaledale sheep who was adopted as a pet sheep by Chris Brown, the farmer of the land in Deepdale, and his family. We stay regularly in the holiday cottage on the farm, and remember Mimi fondly as a very friendly girl who used to visit us for biscuits every day!
Thanks to Chris, Jimmy and Robyn Brown for permission to place this cache.
