On January 15, 2008, “Main Street (First Edition)” was published. Since then it’s had 285 smileys. Having a geocache in your front yard is lots of fun. We’ve met many of the 285 cachers and had some great conversations. We’ll be working around the house and Judy will say, “There’s someone at our cache.” So, out we go, introduce ourselves and have an enjoyable time learning to know some new folks . We’ve met brand new geocachers and those with thousands of finds. Ages have been from the very young to the golden ttagers. Many states and countries have been represented. It’s been a great 81/2 years.
Now it’s time to retire the (First Edition) and update to the (Second Edition). The new age of Geocaching seems to be the Gadget Cache. A year or so ago, I started thinking about building one. I’ve built this gadget cache many, many, times in my head and now it’s finally a reality.
This gadget cache is a two parter. All you need to open the door and retrieve the log sheet, is in the bag. However, you need to be able to open the bag. To do this, you need to figure out what the combination is for the padlock. Once you have the combination, open the bag, then open the door.
To return the cache to its original state, be sure to follow the directions with the padlock combination and be sure the container does not obstruct the door and the door is pulled shut.
IN SOLVING THIS CACHE, DO NOT LIFT OR TIP THE BOX OR BEND THE TUBES. THE BAG CONTAINS TWO ITEMS THAT ARE USED TO OPEN THE DOOR. THE SOLID ITEM WILL NOT OPEN THE DOOR. PLEASE DO NOT USE IT FOR THAT PURPOSE. As this cache is next to our house, please keep the visits to daylight hours.
