Bridge near Agarakadzor Traditional Cache

On our way through Armenia, on Saturday Jule 23, we arrived to the district capital of Yeghenadzor. We slept in a penzion and, of course,catted with the landlord about our trip, and asked for some recommendations. One of them was this remarkable bridge.

The bridge crosses the Arpa river since XIII-th century. Although well-known regionaly, it's not mentioned in any tourist guides I've read. Facts about this bridge are sparse, but local legend goes there used to be a palace of a prince of the Proshyan family and so the bridge was built. While the palace is long gone, the bridge remains and is in use today for moving livestock across the Arpa River as well as making the perfect backdrop for a summer picnic along the river.

On the next day we came to the bridge. Not only it's here for about eight hundred years, but it's still "living" - it's still well preserved, but not as a momunent, but as a useful structure. It's covered by concrete and not a single rock is missing.

How to get there? When going from Yeghenadzor to Aganakadzor turn right just after crossing the Arpa over the modern road bridge. Then follow the river on the beaten dirty track for about 2.5 km (1.5 mi), 4x4 car recommended.

Когда мы путешествовали по Армянии, в субботу 23-го Июла мы приходили в районный центр Егенадзор. Мы спали в местном пензионе и вечером мы рассказивались с госпожей. Мы его тоже спрашивали, чего интересного нам еще посетить. И так мы узнали об этом знаменитом мосте.

Мост переходит реку Арпа с XIII-го века. Хотя изветный для местных жителей, я не видел его в ни каких путеводителях, которие я читал. Справок о нем немножко, но местное сказание говорит, что вблиз реки стоял дворец князев Прошян и так они тоже построили мосста. Дворца уже долго нет, но мост выдержал и до сих пор стада животных ходят по нем и люди пикникат в его тени.

Мы приходили к мосту на следущий день. Он не только же стоит здесь уже около восьми веков, но этот мост "живый" - его сохранят, но не как памятник, но как полезную вещь, верх моста бетонный и ни какие камни не отсуствуют.

Куда к мосту? Ехая из Егенадзора в Агаракадзор поверните направо, сразу, когда вы спуститесь с модерного дорожного моста. Потом ехайте 2.5 км вдоль реки. Дорога очень плохая, лучше взять внедорожную машину.
