JCHT #22 - Mills and Wheels Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

poeanne: Still don't understand why some caches can be unarchived and others can't. Just wishing the same rules applied to all. Shame to have such a favored cache go by the wayside but it isn't worth it.

Geocache Description:

Jackson County Heritage Trail
Cache #22
Mills and Wheels

Permission given by Kevin Poe, County Manager

Now a county park, corn was ground at Sells Mill until the late 1990s. Built to supply electricity as well as to grind grains, there is still a working water wheel in the old mill. The park features hiking trails, a covered pavilion and a playground.

This cache is part of the Jackson County Heritage GeoTrail!

* * * CACHE DESCRIPTION * * *

This is a gadget cache located in a beautiful little spot.

This cache will take you back to a time long ago when goods and services were bartered instead of bought. Back to a time when corn was more valuable than cash (or should we say cache?).

Now, you wont need corn, but you will need some water (a lot of it! We're not talking a 20 oz bottle of water from the cooler) to 'grind' your way in to the cache container. Fortunately, there is plenty of it around, just watch your step retrieving it from the creek. You may also want to 'mill' around after the log has been signed and enjoy the local scenery

There are some unique and special tools required, but we have furnished them for you at the cache site. Be advised though, this is a working mill, err, I mean cache. Don't stick any curious fingers in any cracks or crevices as there are moving parts inside.
