Geocache Description:

It's that time of the year again ...

... it's time to spend SATURDAY IN THE PARK

The original "Saturday in the Park ~ A Meet, Mingle, & Cache Event" was sooo much fun, it's now been established as an end of the summer tradition, so ... mark your calendars, we're doing this again!!

Saturday in the Park VI

A Meet, Mingle, & Cache Event

Date:
Saturday, October 1, 2016

... you read that right ~ typically, it's held on the last Saturday in September, but the Pavilion was already reserved for that date, so we're switching it up this year to the first Saturday in October.

  • Note
If there's a drizzle or light showers, the Event will be held on the date scheduled
    (the pavilion is covered).

In the case of a forecast of torrential downpours, check the cache page

Time: Noon - 5 pm

Place: Dartmouth Regional Park & Trails, located on Harry M. Reynolds Drive (off of Old Fall River Rd.) in North Dartmouth, MA (See directions below). Enter the park, drive to the end of the road where you'll see a rotary, a covered pavilion, and parking.

Note: The Dartmouth Parks website, as well as the sign at the entrance to the Park, mention that a sticker is required to enter and park.Disregard that information - no sticker is needed - just drive right in to the pavilion area.

Food: The SITP Committee (GeoKat28 & Fryler/4Swans) will bring some snacks, soft drinks, and water. We always appreciate additions to the food and beverage table.
******If you'd like to donate snacks or munchies, we'd really appreciate it.

Picnic tables are provided under the pavilion, as are charcoal grills. If you're so inclined, you can bring a picnic lunch or charcoal and food to cook.

Caches: As of this writing, there are 18 caches located in the park. Don't fret if you've already "cached out the park"... we always archive caches that have had a fair run and add new ones so there will always be a cache (or two, or three, or ...) for you to grab a few new smilies while you're here.

Trackables: LOTS of trackables to discover or grab and move along. Got some? - Bring 'em!

Raffles and Prizes?!? - You-betcha!! Through the generosity of cachers, the raffle table is always FULL of AWESOME prizes (ready to place caches, containers, Geocoins, Travel Bugs, swag items, goodies for your geo-bag, t-shirts, etc.). Tickets will be given out "just for attending", and more can be earned by ways that will be revealed at the Event.
******If you'd like to donate raffle items for the table, we'd really appreciate it.

Note: Raffle will be held at 4:00 pm (approximately) so you can plan your caching activities accordingly and be back at the pavilion in time to participate.

Bathrooms: Public restrooms are available just a short walk from the pavilion to the rotary area.

Handicapped Accessible: Reserved parking is available at the pavilion and picnic grove areas (as well as other areas of the park). There's a ramp at picnic grove and flat pavement to the pavilion, as well as handicapped accessible picnic tables (the seating area is cut away so a chair can fit right up to the table). A ramp is also available for access to the restroom area.

General Note # 1: Unfortunately, 4- legged geo-pets (dogs) are not allowed in this park.

General Note # 2: In general, cell phone reception is very good in the park, on the trails, and I even held a crystal clear call while in the swamp doing "Shingle River Valley". Although it may seem *silly*, it's suggested that you leave your phone number with either GeoKat or Fryler before you venture off caching. During our first Event, year there was *a bit of a scare* when a group of cachers hadn't returned by the time the Event was *over* and dusk was setting in fast. Fortunately, all turned out well, but we learned a valuable lesson . . . 'ya never know when an unexpected issue (disorientation, injury, etc.) will arise. Knowing help is just a phone call away can set a lot of minds at ease.

With all that said . . .

COME ON BY!!
What better way to spend the day than "Saturday in the Park"
