Nearby this cache location there used to be a baseball field that we used in the 1960s and 1970s. All the neighborhood guys used to walk across Broughton Road when we were 8-14 years old to play ball on a field beside the Spreading Oak Lodge. That field has now diasappeared having been replaced by a playground and a catch basin. As we grew older, we would walk to the South Park golf course since the baseball field became too small and the sporting interests changed. This cache is placed as a remembrance to those days when kids played baseball and golf for the enjoyment and not because our parents wanted us to play. The location is close to where the infield of the baseball diamond used to be located. Please BYOP, sign the log and replace the lid securely.
