Geocache Description:

A mint tin hidden atop a small hill.

Billy Goat Hill is a registered sacred site. It is known to the Arrernte people as Akyulerre. The dreaming associations of this place, and of Anzac Hill, inlcude two sisters as well as uninitiated boys who travelled by on their way North to the area of the Alice Springs Telegraph Station.

The name 'Billygoat Hill' reflects the early use of the area by townspeople to graze goats for their milk and meat. Storage tanks for the town's water supply were constructed on the hill during World War II and remained in use until 1982. The stone foundations for some of these are still here, and in fact now hide a cache!
