The Town of Buffalo was selected as the county seat of Harding County in 1909, but it was not incorporated as a municipality until 1949. Slim Miller served as the Finance Officer for the Town of Buffalo for decades and so this park bears his name. The park is not subject to heavy use outside of times where there is a special event going on in the surrounding grounds, such as high school football games or rodeos. The site will see constant occupancy around the 3-day long Buffalo Labor Day Rodeo and Celebration as well as during the Buffalo Regional High School Rodeo.
