Once upon a time this was the Cinema-70 movie theater. Cinema-70 opened in the Fall of 1968 with “Oklahoma!” (in 70mm) on it's one and only screen. It had a big screen with lots of seating. After buying tickets and during intermissions, movie goers could hang-out in the large lobby.
In the early 70s Cinema 70 was changed and became a three screen theater and the name was changed to South Cinema. It was around this time that the theater became less of a family outing and more of a teenage hang-out spot.
Cinema-70, or South Cinema, closed in 1989, was torn down in the 90s and the area is now a parking lot owned by Fargo Parks Department.
