#5 The Dogliest Detective and the Case of the Mongolian Contract
"Everybody gather up", ordered Captain McGruff, just as Toby was ready to go home after spending all day doing newbie chores while also completing crime scene lab work.
"The Alaska Consulting Detective Agency has a chance to win a lucrative contract. The President of Mongolia is traveling through Alaska with his family and they are offering a huge contract for the best expert security detectives." said Captain McGruff.
"They are bidding the contract globally - and paying premium amounts for the best. As I am by far the most famous detective in the Agency with the best reputation and training, I will lead the our Team. It is is my experience and references that will win the contract for the firm."
"Toby! They have a cat, so I need three sentences for your bio in the contract bid explaining that you are an expert on finding lost cats." Captain McGruff ordered. "Don't you dare write too much!"
Toby wanted to go home soon, so he quickly wrote out his submission of experience for the contract bid and handed it to Captain McGruff. Holy cow! Did the entire company laugh when Captain McGruff read Toby's submission out loud.
The detective agency submitted a 200 page bid for the security contract. At least half of the bid was about the exploits of Captain McGruff, although it did include Toby's submission in the back -- word for word for word.
Three months later, the CEO announced that Agency had won the huge contract, but the contract insisted that Toby must be in charge of all security. "The President of Mongolia said Toby's stellar reference promised that Toby's help is worth more than a whole detective force."
Captain McGruff exploded, "Toby only had, what, 3 words, in the company's bid proposal? What in the world can those three words mean?"
