Zapisani v spomin je serija zakladkov v okolici Novega mesta. Imena oseb se skrivajo v imenih stavb in ulic, na katera včasih kar pozabimo, po kom in zakaj so tako poimenovana. V besedi in kamnu pa jih ohranjamo še danes. 

Written in memory is one of the series of caches around Novo mesto. Names of people are used in names of buildings and streets, which are sometimes forgotten by whom and why they are named so. In word and stone they are preserved till today.

 

FRAN ZWITTER

Po njem se od leta 1993 se imenuje Zwittrova ulica. Ulica obsega 11 hišnih številk. Pred letom 1993 je bila ta ulica del ulice Kettejevega drevoreda.

Fran Zwitter se je rodil leta 1905 v Beli Cerkvi (Avstro-Ogerska). Po končani Klasični gimnaziji v Novem mestu je študiral zgodovino in geografijo v Ljubljani. Leta 1928 je diplomiral, leta 1929 pa doktoriral v Ljubljani. Kot strokovnjak za novoveško zgodovino in za nacionalno vprašanje se je mednarodno uveljavil in je bil večkrat gostujoči profesor na različnih tujih univerzah, nastopal je na pomembnih mednarodnih kongresih, poleg tega je doma in v tujini objavil vrsto odmevnih monografij in člankov. Izredno odmevno je bilo njegovo delo napisano v sodelovanju z Jaroslavom Šidakom ter Vasom Bogdanovim,  Nacionalni problemi v Habsburški monarhiji. 

Umrl je leta 1988 v Ljubljani.

Fran Zwitter  was a Slovenian historian. A street Zwittrova ulica is named after him.

He was born in the village of Bela Cerkev near Novo mesto in 1905 (then the Austro-Hungarian Empire). After finishing grammar school in Novo Mesto, he enrolled at the University of Ljubljana, where he studied history and geography. In 1938, he became professor at the University of Ljubljana. 

Zwitter's initial expertise was the social history of medieval towns, but under the influence of his supervisor Albert Mathiez, he switched to modern history. Under the influence of the French Annales school, he introduced several methodological innovation in the study of the demographic history of the Slovene Lands.

He died in Ljubljana in 1988.
