Geocache Description:

While heading out along the Wentworth Road, we decided to check out some campsites.

We came across the Little Gums Campground (Sign on main road - take this road!) which is part of the Chowilla Game Reserve and decided to check out each site. Quite a few really good sites were found and then we stumbled across the Chowilla Creek Environmental Regulator and Fishway. The structure is designed to raise water levels which allows the flood plains to be inundated and regenerate the flora.

Not far from the Regulator and Fishway is campsite 1. The last for us to investigate and the most peculiar - well away from the water with nowhere to camp! We couldn't resist leaving a cache and highlighting this great campsite!

PLEASE NOTE - The park is closed in times of Catastrophic Fire Danger and sometimes during Extreme Fire Danger. Wet weather/high river may also make some roads impassable.

Cache can be accessed by boat or road.

Camping is permitted in the park for a fee - please stop at a self-registration station for information (located at the entrance to Little Gums Campground)

Please watch out for livestock and wildlife - lots of kangaroos and emu's in the area. Snakes will also be rampant in this environment so please keep an eye out!
