In the days before Snowmobiles, Trappers in Labrador would leave their Summer homes, after the first snow and freeze up, and travel inland. They would tow a small sled with the basic necessities, Flour, Sugar, Tea and Salt Pork. They would be on their traplines for anywhere from 1 month up to 5 months. They would stay in small shelters, called Tilts, usually 1 days walking distance apart. Some of these Tilts were very small, just big enough for a person to crawl in, with just a stove and a wooden bunk for sleeping. Not far from this cache is the remenants of such a Tilt.
