Situated in a remote and beautiful rainforest, Cloudbridge is a privately owned Nature Reserve which adjoins the primary forest of Chirripó National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site. The reserve aims to preserve this part of the tropical world, to reforest areas previously converted to cattle pasture and to educate visitors.
The journey to the GZ is simple from the carpark, although a steep 2km hike is needed from the San Gerardo waypoint. Approximately half way along this track is the beginning of the Mount Chirripó trail, which can also be accessed from one of the Reserve's trails, the Sendera Montana Loop.
The cache is located at the entrance to the reserve, however, if you've travelled this far you may wish to spend the day exploring the marked trails sampling the abundant wildlife and stunning scenery. These range in difficulty, some loop the lower levels of the reserve (around 40 minute hike) and the most adventurous (>2 hours) going to Vulture Rock - the highest point in the reserve at 2650m. There is a suggested donation of $6/3,000colones to support the reserve's work.
The project staff are aware of and manage the cache, if speaking to them please ask if real Toby returned safely from his long hike. The cache contains a "cardboard Toby", please take a picture with him to post, if posting on social media use the hashtag #cardboardToby.
Further details of the project and its aims can be found on the website: www.cloudbridge.org
