Lincoln Parish Fire District #1 was created by Resolution No. 91-19 of the Lincoln Parish Police Jury on April 23, 1991. At the creation of the fire district A. Byron Johnson was appointed the Fire Service Director. On July 22, 1991 the LPFD #1 Board of Commissioners certified that both Proposition #1 and #2 were approved by a majority of the votes cast. Proposition #1 funded the construction of buildings , and purchase fire apparatus and equipment to be used in providing fire protection to the citizens of the district. Proposition #2 allowed the fire district to assess and collect an annual service fee to fund the continued operation of the district for 10 years, and must be renewed every 10 years.
Presently the fire district operates with 13 - paid firefighters and approximately 65- volunteer firefighters. Inventory includes 21 - stations & 1- Administration building, 32 - firefighting apparatus. Chief Kevin Reynolds, the current fire chief, was appointed April 16, 2015 and was the first chief appointed that rose up the ranks in the LPFD #1.
