The Military Cemetery The cemetery called „in the Source of Łyna” is situated in the centre of the village Łyna. It had two levels and it was damaged over time after the II World War. The lower part of it is called antepedium (frontal), and it has a stone tablet. On this tablet, there is a carved, isosceles cross and two dates of the beginning and the end of the I World War. In the eastern part of the cemetery, next to the monument called by the citizens „the altar”, there are stone stairs, which lead to the main, upper part of the cemetery. On this level there are 143 graves of German and Russian soldiers: respectively 54 and 89. These graves lie in five rows, there is also one mass grave between the second and the third row. Next to this mass grave, there is a two-meter-high stele with a crucifix and an inscription: "HIER RUHEN VEREINT GEFALLEN AM 23 AUGUST 1914 IN EINEM VORGEFECHT DER SCHLACHT BEI TANNENBERG VON OSTPR. JAGER – BALT. 1, 2 KOMP"( Here lie the fallen shooters from the 1st and 2nd company who died 23 August 1914 in the battle of Tannenberg). There are also names of the officers on this monument. In some photos from the interwar period there is a huge Catholic crucifix, however nowadays it does not exist anymore. There are also many graves outside the cemetery, eg. in the Reserve of The Source of the Łyna River. This is indicated in the remains of the fences next to the Łyna stream.
