熊谷市にある「別府沼公園」は、古くから深谷市と熊谷市の境界にあった、自然の湧き水を源流とする「別府沼」を中心に作られた東西に約1kmもある細長い公園です。
春には桜のお花見で賑わい、６月頃は花菖蒲が咲き誇ります。
また水がキレイなためホタルの放流なども行われており、同時期にはホタル祭りと称し鑑賞会が開催されます。
