A short cut from Old Sydney Road/Wallan to Darraweit Guim/Romsey. The dirt road passes through paddocks filled with kangaroos.
In 1866 a Wesleyan school was opened in Darraweit Guim, town lots were sold and a bridge was built across Deep Creek near the Olive Bridge Hotel which predated the bridge. Known as McCabes Bridge, it was named after the hotel’s proprietor. The wooden structure was deemed unsafe in 2010, so hence was replaced in about 2011 for a less aesthetically pleasing one. Be very careful not to drop the cache when retrieving it, and the same when putting it back - or it gets lost forever. BYO pencil – too small to fit one in. Wheelchair accessible.
