(RO) Turba este un fel de cărbune inferior. Are culoarea cafenie-închisă sau neagră și este o rocă sedimentară. S-a format prin descompunerea lentă și carbonizarea parțială a materialului vegetal acumulat în mlaștini neaerisite. Fostul lac Mohos a dispărut, a rămas doar vegetația densă, mușchiul de turbă, o mlaștină năpădită de buruieni. Cele mai recente cercetări arată că craterul Mohoș a fost creat după o explozie vulcanică, practic cenusa vulcanică a colmatat lacul, apa devenind neagră. Dispariţia lacului se datorează şi eroziunii regresive a Râului Roșu (afluent al Otului). Fostul lac – crater s-a dezvoltat treptat într-o mlaştină de turbă aflată la mare înălţime.
Pentru a loga acest earthcache vă rog să-mi trimiteți prin e-mail răspunsurile la următoarele întrebări:

2) Cât de groasă este turba în zonă? (în metri)
3) Din ce cauză a dispărut lacul?
4) Cât de mare este cantitate de turbă în zonâ? (în m³)
5) Cât de mare este aria protejată Tinovul Mohos? (în hectari)

(EN) Peat is a kind of charcoal, a product of semi-terrestrial humus. It has closed tan or black and is a sedimentary rock. Formed by the partial carbonization slow decomposition of the plant material accumulated in swamps stuffy. The former Mohos lake disappeared, only dense vegetation, especially peat moss overgrown bog remained. The latest research shows that the Mohos crater was estabilished after volcanic explosion and crater edge of explosive products created them. The crater has facilitated the replenishment pyroclastits located on the east side of faster erosion and Red Creek crater caused by erosion activities as well. The former crater lake gradually developed into a high mountain peat bog.
