Geocache Description:

And the monthly Meet & Greets continue!!!

We, of course, meet in order to get together and discuss new ideas, and to meet new geocachers to the area...We have informally called this location our "headquarters", but, as always, ideas for future locations to visit are always welcome...

WHEN : Saturday, 8/20/16, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm

WHERE : Mi Casita's Restaurant - Bragg Boulevard

This month and this day, we gather to celebrate International Geocaching Day, where you can earn a souvenir either by attending an event or finding a cache on Saturday, August 20, 2016...

We also will observe the opportunity for those that entered trackables into the HQ Duck Dash to log their trackables and complete the Race/Dash on August 20, 2016...A little history regarding the Duck Dash:

On August 30, 2001, Geocaching.com Founder Jeremy Irish activated the world’s first trackable, TB1, and Jeremy says, “When we first started Travel Bugs, I released 7 Deadly Ducks in the wild.” Each of the new trackables were based on one of the deadly sins...These Deadly Ducks, with the names of Envy, Sloth, Pride, Gluttony, Lust and Wrath, headed out into the world to travel from geocache to geocache...(The Greed Deadly Duck was placed in a geocache that was never listed on Geocaching.com and may still be hidden in Virginia.) Thus began a game within a game: trackables...Today there are more than 2,655,951 trackables traveling around the world — making friends, creating memories and patiently waiting to complete their mission...

The Duck Dash began on July 20, 2016 and ends on midnight, August 20, 2016...It is too late to enter the Dash, unless you activate previously bought Deadly Duck trackables...Other trackables are entered, but they would have had to be registered early in July 2016...

Hopefully, the monthly events will continue to involve opportunities to meet old friends, new cachers, and just exchange ideas and/or stories from fellow cachers... Some come early and some stay late...Either way, come out, hang out with some cachers, and earn a smiley...If you cannot make it, please feel free to share your ideas for future events...

Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you at future events...
