In the Edo era, in this neighborhood, there was the Koutokuji temple. Koutokuji was a very big temple. It was called "bikkuri shitaya no Kotokuji".

ここは、台東区役所の隣の公園です。
江戸時代には、この辺に、広徳寺というお寺がありました。とても大きなお寺だったため、びっくり下谷の広徳寺と呼ばれていました。
