[LT] Apie skulptūrą "Slibinas":
Senamiestyje, ant sienos priešais meno galeriją įkurdintas "Slibinas". Tai skulptoriaus ir dailininko V. Karčiausko apie 145 kg sverianti, 320 cm ilgio skulptūra, pagaminta iš plieno, bronzos bei granito. Tai tarsi mistinis Klaipėdos vardo atsiradimo legendos įamžinimas. Pasak autoriaus, idėja sukurti slibiną kilo perskaičius padavimą apie du brolius, kurie išėjo ieškoti vietos miestui. Vienas išėjo aplinkeliu palei upę, o kitas pasirinko artimesnį kelią per pelkes ir pražuvo. Vėliau brolis rado pražuvėlio pėdsakus ir klaikią pėdą. Toje vietoje brolio atminimui atsirado Klaipėda, kurios pavadinimas kildinamas iš klaiki pėda.
Raudonai juoda spalva nudažyto vienaakio slibino galva yra su paukščio snapu, šikšnosparnio ausimis su apvaliais auskarais, o uodega puošta bronza. Gyvūno galva yra 120 cm aukštyje, kad praeiviai galėtų bendrauti su kūriniu, jį paglostyti.
Slibino skulptūra, anot jos autoriaus, simbolizuoja ryšį tarp žemės ir dangaus, vandens ir ugnies.
Taip pat skulptūra unikali ir tuo, kad atlieka lietvamzdžio funkciją - lyjant slibinas pro snapą "spjaudosi" vandeniu, tad jei nenorite sušlapti, lobio nepatartina ieškoti lyjant lietui.

[EN] About Sculpture "Slibinas" (The serpent):
The steel sculpture "Serpent" was created to illustrate one of the legends retelling the origins of Klaipėda. One of the stories tells of two brothers who went out to find a new suitable place to found a city. One of the brothers chose the longer way down the river, the other chose a closer path and went through the marshes, but was caught in them and perished. Later, upon finding corpse of his brother and a giant footprint right next to it, he decided to immortalise the occurrence by establishing the city on the place of his kindreds death (Lithuanian klaiki, means horrid, scary; pėda - foot). The author of this sculpture, painter Vytautas Karčiauskas, upon presenting the sculpture to the city, encouraged its locals to start commemorating the birth name of the city. The dragon, according to the artist, symbolises the connection between earth and sky, fire and water. Dragon head is with bird beak, bat ears with rounded earrings and tail was decorated with bronze.
The 145 kg in weight, 320 cm long dragon hangs on the wall is not just for decoration, but fulfills the function of a rain pipe. During rain, one can see water splashing out of the jaws of the dragon, so when raining and you don't want to get wet, please not search the cache.
