The Alpine Devils Tower is located in Forbes 2012 "most expensive ZIP code." Supposedly haunted, this tower is the tallest structure in Alpine. Manuel Rionda, a Spanish sugar baron, had this mighty monument constructed in 1904 in order to let his wife Harriet see New York from the New Jersey side of the Hudson. All indications are that the couple was very happy and devoted to each other. However, Harriet turned out to be the subject of numerous rumors of hauntings. As legend tells it, after catching Manuel with another woman, heartstrucken Harriet jumped off the tower to her untimely demise. Wrought with grief, Manuel ceased all work at the tower, abandoning his office at the top. Rumor has it that you can still see the ghost of Harriet if you drive backwards around the tower six times at midnight. I do not recomend doing so as it would require driving backwards in the middle of the night. Please take caution if walking here as there is no official sidewalk, although not many cars come by this way anyhow. At the top of the tower is a hawks nest, and there is a family of five deer nearby. There is also a family of geese that live at a private pond on the grounds of a nearby mansion. Congrats to B2PI for FTF!
