This is a traditional park and grab cache. It is one of a series we are putting together that will form a driving experience around Apokoronas and focus mainly on some of the traditional villages in the area. ![](http://s3.amazonaws.com/gs-geo-images/3c93bbdc-71b7-4b84-86b5-6f171850ae47_l.jpeg)
Kefalas is an old village which is named after its first residents called the Kephalades, the leaders of the Byzantine settlers sent to Crete in 1182. It retains its traditional buildings and claims to have over 25 churches. This one is probably the most well known. The cache is outside the church grounds under rocks. Bring your own pen.
