Parking is in the Big Trees Village Rec Center main lot in the summer months. In fall, winter, and early spring, parking is in the employee lot. Access from the main lot on asphalt paths and then a short walk in the woods. The cache is not inside the pool area of the Rec Center. May not be accessable in snow.
When searching for this cache, please look at the nearby Miwok grinding rock. The Miwok used acorns and other seeds as a vital part of their diet. Their way of life was rich in ceremony and social activity, including the important harvesting and grinding of the fall acorn crop. Throughout this area, large granite outcroppings and boulders with groups of mortar holes bear witness to the Miwok method of grinding seeds and acorns.
