Geocache Description:

The 2nd WW left with even more troubles than it brought – the health of inhabitants has deteriorated drastically. More and more hospitals were transformed to suit the patients with respiratory diseases and TBC. The hospital in Sežana, which was built in 1936, was also one of these hospitals. After the war it was renovated to hold 167 beds and was for TBC patients only. The interesting fact is that the first systemization anticipated 91 employees, but only 42 of these were reserved for health workers and as much as 8 people took care of the park (which is why it is so beautiful wink).

At the beginning of the eighties the number of patients dropped significantly and the hospital was left by the health workers, as well. Only at the end of 90s the hospital regained its renomé when they set the base for respiratory rehabilitation that got well known all over the world (though the positive effects of caves were discovered during the hiding in 2nd WW). Speleotherapy is a kind of treatment that takes place in special climatic environment, most commonly caves, where the absence of outside, the physical, chemical and biological is of a vital importance. In Sežana the therapy is successfully implemented for over 20 years in the cave by the hospital.

The Karst is special for one more thing laugh

Given coordinates will help you choose the road towards the parking lot and present the best view of the hospital. The entrance to the caves can be seen by the parking lot, while the cache will show you the beauties of the park. You will be able to see the old part, right next to the hospital and the renewed part with outdoor fitness. Enjoy solving the puzzle, if in need of ideas, feel free to contact us.
