The sportsfield is used for rugby, soccer, cricket and there's a tennis court. That's a good point.
It's also the venue for the annual rodeo. But that's not the point.
The Rerewhakaaitu Pony Club hold regular gymkhana and show jumping events on their purpose built course here - also shared by the Rotorua Dog Obedience Club with dog agility events here. That's a pretty good point too.

When the Dog Obedience club hold their events many camp over the weekend here and you will occasionally find Certified Self Contained campervans parked here overnight. That's a very good point.
The domain is also the base for water-skiing on Lake Rerewhakaaitu, although the boat launching ramp is not very good and best done at Guy Rowe Reserve on the western shore of the lake. That's sort of the point.

Lake Rerewhakaaitu is a relatively shallow lake and has extensive weed beds around the shoreline means there's good fishing to be had here. As it is situated on flatland, wind can be a problem at times but many anglers do like this lake however as it is easy to wade and fish can be spotted as they cruise the shoreline. The lake does holds good stocks of rainbow trout, mostly around the 1.5 kg mark and much bigger fish are also present. The excellent food source in the lake means that they are aggressive and hard fighting. That's a great point.

There's a great walk around the point from the ski lane and back to near the pony club grounds. It'll take about an hour. Unfortunately you will have to watch out for the hoons who race their motor cycles or 4WD's around the track, so please keep your children and geohounds under control. You'll hear the hoons approaching. So the hoons are a bad point.
There used to be extensive bird life around but they are more scarce nowadays, although you may see swans, geese and ducks on the lake. Less wildlife is another not so good point.

But the main point here is to find the traditional cache hide, sign the log and enjoy the walk, location and scenery.
