Head West on Highway 90 towards the setting sun from Marfa. At last on your left you will find Stardust in your eyes. Seach below and a few feet west - you must lift up a lid. The underlying logo of the Star Dust sign was for San Jacinto Courts, which was the name of the original motor court. “If you look at the sign, it does resemble the San Jacinto monument (in LaPorte, Texas).” Apparently, some of the crew for the filming of Giant stayed there in 1955. Later, after the structure had become the Stardust, the 1993 movie Flesh and Bone was filmed there, starring Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan, and introducing newcomer Gwyneth Paltrow.
