Geocache Description:

This is beautful down town Trinidad, there are plenty of nice shops along main street, they range from art gallerys to antique shops. You will also find coffee shops and lots of places to eat on your caching adventure around our humble town.

We spend alot of time walking around here and admiring the stunning stone work on the architecture. It seems, the more time you spend downtown the more you realize how much you didn't see the last time you came though.

As you sit down on the bench to take a rest or just to take in the scenery, you will notice there is a museum across the street from you. This is the AR Mitchell Museum. He was a localy born artist and historian. AR was known as "King of the Western Pulp Covers". His artwork was featured on the covers of 160 books and magazines. Mitchell was awarded the Honorary Trustees Award from the National Cowboy Hall of Fame as "the man who has done the most for Southwest history" through his artwork. AR Mitchell was not only a reat artis, but he also was very concirned with preserving the historical nature of Trinidad. One of the ways he did this was to purchase the Baca House with most of the original furniture still in it. AR kept the furniture from the Baca family including a piano that the Baca's brought from the east coast by wagon. He was so keen on keeping the house original that he never ran electricity to the home. You can tour the house for a small fee and get a feeling of how life was for the Baca family thanks to AR Mitchell.

This is a high traffic area so you will most likely need to use stealth. This is a nano with only enough room for a log so bring your own pencil.
