Thanks for visiting one of the Forgotten Villages of Van Buren County along the Des Moines River.
Plymouth was surveyed in April 1842 for John and Edward Colton. Later, the Lawerence Coal Co. expanded and resurveyed the town as Lawrence. From 1864 to 1865 the Lawrence Hotel became the Iowa Soldier's Orphans Asylum founded by Annie Turner-Wittenmyer.
