Cache In Trash Out

For the 7th year we will be having a CITO event. This will be our 3rd CITO on the bike trail. We would love to have you join us. Spend the day on the bike trail caching all the caches and picking up trash. You can pick up trash and cache your way to the event from the end closest to Martinsburg making a stop for some refreshments before returning to the trail. Or you can park here and pick up trash and cache to and from the event location. Or as a third option just on this event day trash/cache to either end and get picked up and brought back to this location or at any of the parking locations along the trail. There should be a few new caches for everyone who might have already done the trail in the past so come on out and cache it again. The caches range from easy to find, to difficult to find, with some challenging terrain mixed in. This is not a power trail where all the caches are the same, expect variety.

EVENT SCHEDULE:

  • 10:00 to 10:15 meet other cachers talk shop, trade TB's and enjoy a water and a donut.
  • 10:15 Greetings and announcements about the trail and caching opportunities in the area
  • 10:20 Group Picture
  • 10:25 Drawings/Prizes
  • 10:30 Pass out trash bags and start picking up trash
  • Based on the number of attendees I will discuss where you can leave collected trash for me to gather after the event.
  • 11:00 event site closes but you can pick up trash as long as you want till but you can only be picked up till 3:00PM

CITO INFO:

  • We will have trash bags for everyone
  • You might want to bring a pair of gloves
  • One of those grabber things will be helpful as well

If you want to take advantage of theSHUTTLE I will give you my phone number and you can give me a call for a pick up until 3:00pm on the day of the event.

As in past years the new caches should all be published before the event so just make sure you load the GPS the night before and you should have all the trail caches. No bike is needed to do the trail you can walk the trail. The trail is paved but it is also hilly. This is not a rails to trails bike trail. From one end to the other is about 10.5 miles so it would be a total of 21 miles round trip. For a list of important waypoints along the trail see GC4Q1H2 Bike Trail - Welcome to the Trail.
