What Does the Fox Say? Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dogliest: Ground zero has gone through some changes. The city took out some trees and logs in the area, and the winter storms have dropped several new ones. Rather than replace this cache, I will be rebooting it very soon. Thanks to all who looked for the cache and had fun with it.

Geocache Description:

The Taku Lake area is one of my favorite hidden parks in Anchorage. It has a nice loop dog walk trail around Taku Lake, the long Campbell Creek greenbelt bike trail, and the salmon bearing Campbell Creek flowing close by. You can often see lots of wildlife -- moose, beaver, eagles, geese, ducks, fish and black bear -- in the early mornings and late evenings. I once saw a beautiful fox with a long flowing tail prancing through the woods near here which inspired the cache theme.

What Does the Fox Say?

The most viewed video from the northern latitudes is not from Alaska, but it looks like it could be. The song What Does the Fox Say from the Norwegian group Ylvis has more than 600 million views on YouTube and has appeared on several American and Canadian  TV shows. The forest scenes look like much of the black spruce forests around Alaska, as does the humor and the people who shows up for BBQ's.

The secret of the cache -- Ancient mystery.
Somewhere deep in the woods I know you're hiding.
Will always be a muggle mystery -- They cannot see.
Look for a small guardian angel -- watching over the hide.
Where is the cache?  I want to, I want to, I want to know.

The cache size is between a small and regular size, but well camouflaged to hide it from muggles.  This area has a hard time keeping caches from going missing, so please leave it invisible to muggles but not too hard for cachers.

Geocaching Hint:  Densely wooded areas, especially surrounded by hills like this area, often have poor GPS reception. It can be helpful to establish a good GPS reading and position reckoning in the more open areas, such as on the bike path by the lake, before heading into the woods where the GPSr will jump around. This is particularly helpful when a fallen tree might block your direct path into the woods.
