Gundi and Kotkov, the two great footballers almost everyone has heard about at least once, have been driving on this road on their last day. Close to where the box is hidden, a tragic accident happened - an accident for which we will probably never know all the facts.

They have been driving a sports car on this old road in a hurry for an event where they had to participate later that day... But never arrived. The sports car obviously hit a big cargo truck that has somehow been on the old road, right in their way. The car soon turned into flames and burned all together with the great footballers. It all has happened so fast... The information given to the nation has been that it has been an accident - but it will be never known. Pictures from the accident are showing that the truck has been strangely placed right on the road; and later has been towed aside for the other pictures taken later on for the media.
In fact, the national media didn't actually tell the information right away to the Bulgarian people. The info for the accident had been placed on the last page in the newspaper, in the lower corner, while on the front page, another article has been placed about an event related to Russia.
Even if that is so, as soon as everyone learned about what had happened, people were shocked. Everyone loved the two great football players. On the next day, thousands didn't attend to their workplaces, gathering at the national stadium in honor of the two men. The governing party at the time didn't actually allow for the people to favor any particular person - it was the communist years, and everyone had to be equal. So such a massive display of affection towards two persons from the whole nation shocked the governement. It has really been a big move to miss work and go to the stadium in such strict years. A gesture that only shows, once again, how much everyone loved the two footballers and what they meant to the nation.
