Prior to the building of the Mersey Paper Company, a series of dams were built on the Mersey River. The distance from Milton and Liverpool made a trip there in the 1920's quite an endeavour. The Power Company built a small company town to house the people who ran the dams and their families. The Townsite as it was known was quite advanced for its time. The homes all had electricity and indoor plumbing. They were connected to a public water and sewer system. The homes were all well constructed and mist even had hardwood floors.

There was a circular drive and all of the homes were built around this drive. There was even an ice skating rink on the site. For many years people lived in the Townsite and worked the dams and the town was a going concern. As with all things automation and modernization cut into the manpower needed to maintain the dams and population shrank as a result.
Most of the families had moved to Liverpool or Milton by the early 1960's and the town was abandoned. All that is left are the memories and a few cement steps and foundations.
