Yes it is true it was ten years ago on October 13, 2006 that I hid my first geocache Hound Dog Hotel (https://coord.info/GCYVM0).
Little did I know I would get hooked on this hobby, but not like most people. Most people like to find the geocaches but I was hooked on hiding the caches for those to find. I started with a Garmin 12xl then graduated to a Garmin GPS72 but it wasn't until I
bought a Garmin 76csx that I really strated hiding caches in earnest. The coords were so much better with the 76csx and everyone was very happy with the coord accuracy with my hides. My main goal was to find containers that were very weathrproof and would hold up to the element while keeping the log dry inside. My wife would find containers all over the yard that I would test out, I even had a few in the pool. She definitly
wasn't happy with those. I'm always looking for better and better containers that will last and not cost me a fortune. Ive meet a lot of new freinds since I've
started this hobby. Some I have know for many year. I even knew them when they still had hair in some cases. I've been on many fun trip with my geocaching friends and have met some of the nicest people I know while enjoying this hobby. Many people have enjoyed the caches I have put out over the year and I have driven some people nuts with some of them. I'm not much of a puzzle solver but I do like to create puzzles for other cachers to solve. I've caught a little grief now and then from a few cachers about this fact but they keep solving them so I must be doing something right. I also listen to what my fellow cachers
are saying when we are caches and the result is usually a cache with a theme that has to do with the subject we were
talking about or an event that took place while caching. A prime example would be the Lefty caches. Maintaining my hides is very important I like to keep them in good shape for others to find. My favorite method of transportation while hiding my caches is my trusty cachemobile. It is a Schwinn Cruiser with a giant basket on the front to carry all those cache containers I like to hide. It is amazing the awesome spots you can find to
hide a cache when you can cruise around nice and slow on a bike. Helping my geocaching friend out when they lose something while caching is of utmost importance also. I have celebrated milestones with many cachers and enjoyed every one of them.
One of my hides was the the sight of a wedding proposal between two of my best friends. I've had the good fortune of meeting my dance partner for geocaching event and whenever she is up to it we cut a rug. So all in all I have had fun these past 10 years and I hope to keep on having fun for many years to come. Keep watching for those hides because they are gonna keep coming. Thanks to all my geocaching friends for 10 great years.
