Geocache Description:

Take a train ride along the Downtown line to Tan Kah Kee station, named after Mr Tan Kah Kee, a prominent businessman and philanthropist from Fujian China, who founded The Chinese High School in 1919.

The Chinese High School, now the high school section of Hwa Chong Institute, is a sprawling landmark along Bukit Timah Road. The beautiful clock tower served as a headquarter and vantage point for both the Allied defenders and the Imperial Japanese army during the Battle of Singapore and the subsequent Japanese occupation. The school compound also served as a temporary concentration camp for detainees during the 1942 Sook Ching massacre.

The Chinese High School is consistently ranked as one of the top schools in Singapore, and it admits the top 3% of the primary school cohorts. The school compound covers 79 acres, making it one of the largest schools, in terms of land area, in Southeast Asia.

Due to the tight security measures in and around the MRT station and school entrances, I have placed the magnetic cache away from the prying eyes of the ubiquitous security cams. The cache hide is walking distance from the station, hence should be an easy find for train commuters.
