Il rifugio Guido Donegani è stato il primo rifugio costruito in Val Serenaia, come punto d'appoggio per le escursioni al Pisanino e al Pizzo d'Uccello. La costruzione, situata a 1282 m s.l.m., fu edificata nel 1860 come ricovero dei cavatori della società Montecatini. Successivamente fu convertito in rifugio da parte del CAI di Lucca con un grande contributo di Guido Donegani, presidente della Montecatini e appassionato di montagna. Negli anni '80-'90, fu abbandonato per riaprire un centinaio di metri più a valle, e da allora ha subito notevoli vandalismi. È accessibile dal nuovo rifugio Donegani seguendo la marmifera.
La cache è un piccolo contenitore di plastica nascosto nei pressi del vecchio rifugio. Contiene logbook e matita, con possibilità di scambiare piccoli oggetti. Buona ricerca!
Rifugio Guido Donegani was the first mountain hut built in Val Serenaia, as a base to climb Mount Pisanino and Pizzo d'Uccello. The building, situated at 1282 m above sea level, was first built in 1860 as a refuge for the workers of the marble quarries, belonging to the Montecatini company. Afterwards, it was enlarged and converted into a mountain hut with a big help by Guido Donegani, CEO of Montecatini and a mountain enthusiast. During the 1980s-1990s, the hut was abandoned and a new hut was opened a few hundred meters down through valley, and since then it has been vandalised a lot. It can be accessed from the new rifugio Donegani following the marble quarry road.
The cache is a small plastic box hidden near the building. It contains logbook and pencil, and small objects can be exchanged. Happy geocaching!
