Although Fort Saint Philip is nowadays in a state of ruin, it had a paramount importance in the defence of Port Mahon and the very island of Minorca from the 16th century. In the first place the fort was built by the Spaniards in response to frequent raids by Turkish pirates, but later, over the 18th century, it would pass into British and French hands. After the Treaty of Amiens (1802) Minorca became Spanish again, and the sovereign Carlos IV ordered the demolition of this stronghold.
The cache merely consists in a small container and a logbook. You should bring your own pen to log. You won't be asked to dismount any wall to find the cache (sadly, time, war and the Spaniards already took good care of its walls).

Hoy en ruinas, el Castillo de San Felipe fue pieza clave en la defensa del puerto de Mahón y de la propia isla de Menorca desde el siglo XVI. Originalmente construido por los españoles ante los frecuentes ataques de los piratas turcos, el castillo, junto a la propia isla, pasaría a manos británicas y francesas a lo largo del siglo XVIII. Después de la Paz de Amiens (1802) Menorca volvió a ser española y el monarca Carlos IV ordenó la demolición de esta plaza fuerte.
El cache consiste sólo en un pequeño contenedor y un logbook. Deberíais traer vuestro propio bolígrafo para loguear. No se os pedirá que desmontéis ningún muro para encontrar el cache (tristemente, el tiempo, la guerra y los españoles ya se cuidaron bien de sus muros).
